🐸 Discovering hidden biodiversity!

During a recent field visit to Cameroon, the APASAT team had the opportunity to photograph this small frog belonging to the genus Phrynobatrachus.

The genus Phrynobatrachus is particularly diverse in Cameroon, with numerous species occurring across different habitats, including several species with very restricted distributions.

Phrynobatrachus species also occur in Benin, reminding us that amphibian diversity is not limited to one country and that there is still much to learn about these often overlooked components of West and Central African biodiversity.

At APASAT, we believe that conservation begins with observation, documentation and a better understanding of the species that share our landscapes.
